Lovely little harbour to walk around or have an ice cream or crepe. We also hired a boat ( Ty bagou) for 2 hours. Our 8 year old loved it!

We got the number 5 bus from Vannes to the JF Kennedy stop in Auray. Walked down through the town to Port de San Goustan. It's a lovely walk and as you cross the bridge you can see the Port in front of you. There are about 10 restaurants scattered around the port. It was a terribly hot day so we could not venture very far along the harbour area. What we say was lovely and a great day out if you are staying in nearby Vannes. Bus fare €2.50 and you pay the driver as you get on.

Ty Bagou boat hire.
I don’t think they are on trip advisor but they deserve a mention because they provide such a great option for this area. Not cheap but €90 for two hours of independent navigation of the two rivers south of Gouston is well worth it.
Thomas provides detailed instruction and maps with great advice for all eventualities. We loved it and recommend it as a great way to spend an afternoon (you can do a whole day too and could get at least 4, maybe 6 people on the little, slow boats.

Lovely place to walk about and sit for a snack or meal. In summer it is very busy but worth a visit when in Auray

OK. the city and the port is nice and you can park easily in the area.
But once you walked less than one hours this is pretty much it.
If you wish to bike, no way. They have not done anything....
If you try to go along the treauray river: on the left from the port, the path is blocked and not allowed for bike.
If you try on the right of the river, auray side, then after a while the path is private and you cannot pursue.
The only way to bike there is to take the big road in the middle of the cars. I better use my car if I have to travel around cars.

We had visited Port de St Goustan at Auray about 20 years ago and were impressed with its quaintness and beauty. Coming back to Carnac this year we just had to see if it had changed. The quai is very much as we remember it except that it appears to be wider further down and traffic is now restricted by entrance-controlled bollards, I assume, for traders.
It is still a lovely place for a summer’s day or evening visit, cobbled streets leading down to the quai from the top car-park, a picturesque cobbled quayside, restaurants, cafés and of course the colourful boats. Also, if you have the time, cross the bridge and climb the zig-zag to the top of the old ramparts for a lovely high-level view over the port. While we there there was a pretty book market on the quai-side. We also appreciated the number of plagues giving historical information especially the one on Benjamin Franklin who landed at St Goustan and who the quai is named after.
We found the free cark park further along the quai away from the centre and it meant that we had a lovely walk back to the square which we would probably have missed.
There are plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants, both in the main square and further along, for both eating, drinking and especially people watching. To get the full advantage you have to be choosy dependant on time of day, position of the sun and whether the establishment has restrictions on where you can sit if you are not dining.

This is a wonderful place to visit. It is charming and full of history. Lots of little restaurants or you can just sit alongside the river or bridge and people watch. Try to make it up the hill so you can look down and see the wonderful view of the whole area

Lovely place to stroll around, attractive houses and restaurants, plenty of restaurants to choose from for a very pleasant lunch. Street entertainers when we visited (July). Possible to walk alongside water edge. Saw a pleasure boat so this may be possible also but unsure. Highly recommended.
