The Lotta Museum is a professionally run specialist museum that records and documents the history of the Lotta Svärd organization and studies the volunteer work of women as part of the history of Finland. The Museum is maintained by the Lotta Svärd Foundation and it was opened to the public in 1996.

We learnt a great deal about the major work done by Finnish women in social care and wartime auxiliary capacities in 20th century. Well explained story of the Lotta Svard movement and its national and international significance. Well worth a visit. Good English translations of...More

Visited with a Finnish friend.It is a beautiful setting on Lake Tuusala but you will need transport.Beautifully laid out museum showing the work done by woman during the wars It was laid out along the lines of a military service and really combined the work...More

The museum presents the history of tje organization in an exemplary way, everything written in three languages: English, Swedish and Finnish. Lots of memorabilia, photograps, medals and clothing on display. The canteen provides coffee and pastries.

If one is interested in Finnish history this smallish museum. There you find information on history of Finnish women during war time. Exhibition is nicely put and informative. There is down stairs a cafe&restaurant where you eat deliciuos soups or have coffee with sweet bread....More
