Magical, underrated site! The castle has really a uniquely Gothic ornamented architecture of old Norman style (XIIth s) and has never been sold nor suffered irreversible destruction during Revolution nor WWII. It now belongs to a descendant of the original builders via a Scottish-Norman branch. Several masters’ works of art in site. Interior in good state. Definitely recommend if you are in the area of Bayeux. Peaceful park with peacocks. Recommend to see the 10’ film available in English in the Chapel. Several games and animations for kids.

Very large place. Huge castle. Unfortunately not allowed to take pictures inside but can take of the grounds and church. The tour is in French ONLY but you get a English handout. All signage in French ONLY. The guide was very nice. The grounds were beautiful. The signage to the castle was not the greatest. BUT when you are on a bicycle you can stop often to ask for directions.

Area guide from Bayeux tourist office suggests that guided tours are in English; they’re not! My French is ok, but the very pleasant owner spoke so quickly I couldn’t keep up. The only time he did check we understood was when he’d made a joke about Brexit. Hmmm The “labyrinth” is brand new so is just a waist high fence at present and there was no signage to say the video in the chapel is in English too. (Yes, should have looked on here first, but I’d forgotten my password) So many questions I’d have liked to ask the owner but he gave the impression he didn’t want to converse in English. Beautiful chateau from the outside, not much else and felt the €31 it cost my family to get in was at the upper end of where it should be. If it’s a chateau experience you want, I’m sure there are better for the money.

We just happened to be passing by the chateau as we were driving through France and decided to stop and check it out. We bought tickets and were told we could get on the tour that had just started. We didn't understand that the tour would be in French and were give a little booklet with minimal information in English. I understand a little French but the guide spoke too quickly for me to understand much and my husband didn't understand anything that was said although those that did understand seemed to be very engaged.....I would have liked to been in on the jokes!! Also there were about 25 people on the tour so it was a pretty good sized group. At any rate the chateau is very nice but I think for the price I would have skipped it had I known the tour was only in French. When the tour was over we found out that there was a guide there that spoke English and it would have been nice to understand a little of what was being said or maybe an English audio guide would have been helpful.
