Sadly taking pictures does this site no justice! Take the time to drive around both sides of the lake, stop, breath in, take pictures, listen to silence and relax.. Ah, holidays!

MUST visit in South Island. Love the Lupins growing by the lakeside. Extremely scenic. Stayed there for hours enjoying the view.

One of the many beautiful lakes in New Zealand. The water is just so blue. It's a pity that it was poring rain the day that we were there or we would have spent a bit more time there enjoying the view.

South Island has got a lot of lakes but I think this should be on the top lists to visit, plus if you are lucky you get to see the aurora at night.

This place is a must-visit if you visit NZ. There is also a Astrocafe with soft yet not too sweet carrot cakes and latte. There are also seats indoor and outdoor with a great panoramic view of the lake.

Perfect time to come here are between mid November to February. The temperature are perfect for Lupin flowers to bloom. You can see Lupin flowers everywhere.

It is winter time in NZ so it will be cold, wet and windy. The bonus is you will see the mountains covered in snow. It's hard to say what weather you get on the day. I was there late April and it was dry and sunny on the day... More
