The Catedral de Ourense is actually designated as a basilica since 1887. I suggest reading the history on line by googling it - fascinating and worth your time. Our impressions of the cathedral - WOW! Jaw dropping! Moving! Of all the holy places we’ve been...More

I’ve been to many cathedrals (perhaps too many!), but this one ranks high in terms of the intricate interior work. Don’t be put off by the outside, which is quite bland, because the inside will leave you glad that you paid the few euros to...More

As churches go, and I have visited dozens in Spain, this is one of the most disappointing. First, the location is unfortunate as it doesn't really dominate a square as most do. The interior can be characterized as dark and moldy. I think that because...More

Well i do not understand why we have to pay to goto a churh/temple. We have visit a lot of churchs and temples and we never pay for it. What a mess for turists that comes a long way. Better luck next time

Beautiful old cathedral with a very good audio guide, well worth a visit. There are some very ornate chapels around the outer area of the cathedral.

By far one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the outside your expectations aren't much but inside it is unbelievable. I would highly recommend a visit.

It isn't a majestic building on the outside and is crowded by many buildings within the city. Nothing appealing to look at.

We were asked to pay if we wanted to go in. We later spoke to family members that live in ourense and they told us that they were never charged to go in, turns out locals don't have to pay but turists do. We tried...More

I spent about 20 mins inside looking and walking. To be fair I did not look up the history beforehand so perhaps missed something. Compared to other cathedrals like Leon, Asturga... a much littler sister. But if you are in Ourense, definitely go see and...More
