This is a simple but charming 12th-century church. Our guide informed us that this is the church where popes Pius II & Pius III were baptized.

Be brave and go down the steps at the back down into the crypt! We were the only visitors when we went.

Literally just outside the walls of Pienza lies this architecturally interesting little church. Don't expect frescos, but look at the simple architecture so typical for the Romanesque style.

A bit out of the city but worth the drive (5 minutes). It's a really old church with a interesting atmosphere. Don't miss the catacomb.

This very old church offers peace of mind. It is brilliantly located and overseen by many tourists. The architecture is very special, especially on the architraves. It was one of the favourite churches of St. Francis.
