Walking on boring streets of Riesa run across of 'Tiergarten' is like finding a hidden gem. Fortunately, it is not an ordinary and separated part of the public park. It is more since part of exhibition is presented inside the old closter building. Renovated sacral buildings still remind old times, at least when analysing great location on the bank of the Elbe river and next to the church. Sightly remote tower (latrine tower?) add a bit more mystery.

Tierpark is on the City Hall yard down to the river direction.

What we have there? few middle sized aquariums, stuffed animals and interesting exhibition telling about river Elbe - all inside. Outside many local species cages in small spaces. It is also playground with goats and ponies. Few old trees and exotice plants give the right to keep also few Asiatic monkeys.

Entry is free. Really? It is a small ticket office and prices are listed - 3€ for adult. It is also written that if nobody in ticket office then find anybody from staff and ask for ticket. Well, I have followed cigaret stinky path and found a man in beautiful green uniform. He ignored me and I did not see any ticket in his dirty trousers' pocket.

So much to see and learn about! Animals, native heirloom plants and fruit trees and history of the area or just come to relax in the garden. It has a very interesting exhibition in the old cloister. If you stop in Riesa I would recommend a visit.
