We really enjoyed to walk on the route... We advice everyone to try it once and you will continue to go to Zutendaal only for the walking route.

Get your feet in the mud
Jul 2019 • Family
Great experience to connect with the earth and how soil feels. Fantastic trail for young and old. Simple idea but very well thought through with eye for detail and a nice feel-good result.

Best Foot Massage Ever!!!
May 2018 • Family
Did not know what to expect....a walking Tour??? Hmmmm kets do it...... pay for tickest at reception, place personal item in lockers including shoes as only barefoot allowed. it made a great conversation facilitator along the pathways...dirt, grace, log beds, boulders, hanging bridges, mud posts, a few points of interest and closing with a very cool refreshing water walkway through an uphill waterway, also dirt tunnels and high look out points, a few photo op spots and you can end by dining at the restaurant at reception water washing your feet and getting back in your shoes. Challenged this trail with 4 adults and two kids...... very cool!!!

Great fun!
Jul 2018 • Family
We visited the bare foot path on 2nd July with my husband, 4 year old daughter and myself. We had the best time! The trail is 3km long, don't underestimate that this is a long way without shoes. The weather was very hot so the sandy bits were hot. The walk has lots of interesting features, bridges, maze, climbing areas etc. and the view from the top of the lookout is lovely. The different surfaces make you appreciate your shoes at the end! Our 4 year old loved it, especially the water climb at the end which was so refreshing :-)
Highly recommend a visit here, the cafe is also very good value and staff very friendly. There is also a butterfly garden and educational display about bees. All in all great value for money for a morning/afternoon visit.

Dirty feet
Aug 2017 • Couples
A must do experience when in the area.
Dirty feet garanteed, but no wories, you can clean them after the walk.
A +/- 1.5 hour walk over a diversity of soils.
Great as a couple, with children or friends.

Great place, should be included on your summer bucket list

The barefoot path is part of Lieteberg, one of the Hoge Kempen National Park gateways and situated in Zutendaal. When driving on the Stalkerweg, follows the signs on round-about for parking area (free). From here it is a small walk to the entrance. In addition to the barefoot path, there is also a cafe for drinks and refreshments, free toilets, etc. You are allowed to bring your own lunch under the condition that you do buy a drink! When you enter the entrance you can buy a ticket to enter the barefoot path. For those interested, you can also buy a combined ticket that grants you entrance to the butterfly conservatory and insect museum too. Both are quite small in set-up. Before entering the barefoot path, there are lockers where you can store your shoes, etc. They are coin operated (1 Euro) which will be returned when you open locker.

We have enjoyed the barefoot path quite a few times and keep coming back, each time it is a different experience depending on the group and time of year. The barefoot path is ideal after rain. Bark chip, etc. can hurt when paths are more dry and mud puddles have dried up.

This is a fun activity for young and old but there is a word of warning for older less mobile people, who can be challenged when climbing the log type stairs to reach maize and view tower. Since there are no short cuts, it is good to be aware of this.

Another thing we enjoy about the path is that they yearly add a new attraction to the path. This year they added a wooden bridge (boomkroonpad) right at the end.

I should also end that the entrance, where you buy your ticket is a tourist information office and great place to stock up on brochure of other attractions in the area. They also sell some local delicatessen (honey, some local schnapps, etc.)

When in the area, we can recommend a visit to this unique experience!

lovely nature trail
Mar 2017 • Couples
Didnt have anything planned on a Sunday and found this as a recommendation - lived it! Was a beautiful little nature trail of about 2.5kms with lots of activities on the way and a high tower about 1.5kms in to climb up and look out from. Some little puddles and obstacles on the way around which made it great fun...was not busy at all and spent around 1.5 hours on the trail plus 30 mins enjoying the sun after next to a butterfly tunnel and drink. Excellent suggestion and will definitely go back with my son - a must if you have kids! Take a small towel so you can wash/dry your feet after - they felt very refreshed after the long barefoot walk! 👣👣
