Fantastic destination for birds watchers ,refuge of charismatic black rhino and African wild dog. You can sight spectacular species such as fringe eared oryx, lesser kudu and Gerenuk which are rare elsewhere in Tanzania.

A quiet park but lots of wildlife to see. We enjoyed seeing the wild dogs and rhino that are protected in the park.

Mkomazi is fairly new in its designation as a National park. It was previously a game reserve, a place for hunting, and as a result, the animals here are very shy of vehicles. Most often, when you see them, you will just catch a glimpse...More

Not as packed with large mammals as its siblings in the northern circuit, but way more exciting! As before we had the park entirely to our selves, driving for hours, days without meeting or hearing another vehicle. The main roads are in good shape. The...More

We have camped here number of times, last time in March. Although it cannot compete with the busy parks further up north, Mkomazi offers something quite different to rest of the parks - a privacy. On our last visit, we have stayed for three nights,...More

Many people say that Mkomazi is not a good park - what a mistake! It's great! Yes, it is very dry, but this apparently attracts the lesser Kudu - we saw really plenty of them, but of course you have to watch careful between the...More

Out of the way park, very large w. very few visitors. Although there are plenty of animals, they aren't concentrated therefore somewhat disappointing after Arusha, Manyara, Tarangire and the other parks of the Northern circuit. That being said, still plenty to see WITHOUT lines of...More
