Took a detour to Strome Castle while on a drive around the lochs. In reality just some outer walls remain of the small castle, it has great views and is a good spot to take a photo. If you drove a long way, you'd likely...More

A slow amble out to Ardaneasken and stopped off here to take in the views. Clambered around the ruins taking in the history and took plenty of photos of the area. Ideal interesting fresh air break prior to continuing our itinerary.

Nicely desolate & remote & unspoiled. Bit of a hokum story - info board could do with updating as almost faded away. Climb mound at the back for a view of a yummy kitchen garden.

It is just a small ruin and not worth making a special visit. It is situated by the lochside which is attractive.

Strome Castle is located on what used to be the road to the Ferry to Kyle of Lochlash but the ferry closed and it now sits near a dead-end road. The Castle was built in the 1400s. It guards the north side of the Strome...More
