About
Ingleton Pottery is a small family run business making high-fired, hand thrown Stoneware pottery in the Yorkshire Dales village of Ingleton, by the riverside. Established in 1971, we are the longest established working pottery in the Yorkshire Dales. We are open from 9.30am until 5pm, most days, but if you're coming out of season please ring and check to avoid disappointment. We make a wide range of extremely tough tableware, electric and oil lamps, candlelights, vases, wine sets and more - all at sensible prices. Everything we is hand made and is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. All our clays & glazes are entirely lead-free and made from our own recipes. This ensures an absolutely unique product and style.

We saw a sign for ‘pottery’ and decided to check it out on our way home from Milnthorpe, I was a little apprehensive as usually I see lots of lovely things but can’t afford the price.
You walk down a little side road and the little shop is on the right. Wow! so many different pieces and the cheapest prices Ive ever seen! I could have bought so much, I mentioned the reasonable prices to the old man behind the counter and he said “better to be bought than gathering dust”. The pottery is made on site and the workshop was clearly visible behind the plastic screen at the counter, needless to say we bought several bits and will definitely be back!

We were travelling to Yorkshire Dales to explore the places in July 2021, including Ingleton Waterfalls trail. What a pleasant surprise was to find this pearl of Ceramic Art after hours of hiking! The staff man was very nice, friendly and introduced us to the story of Ingleton’s Pottery, also we were very lucky to be at the right moment of new releases so we ended bying plenty of ceramic items - plant pots, vases, lamp stands.. Such a beautiful pieces! Here is a photo of lamp stand , one of my purchases. Highly recommend to visit !

We had our 1st trip out since lockdown eased up, we took a trip up to Ingleton North Yorkshire. We had to pay a visit to our most favourite pottery in the whole country, INGLETON POTTERY it was a pleasure to be greeted by the owners Mr & Mrs Unsworth & their son. This little pottery is such a nice quaint shop, every time we visit we always buy something, as all the items on sale are handmade by the family right their in the pottery. The items range from Tea light Holders right up to big pots & vases, they even make Egg cups etc, the merchandise is reasonably priced and of the highest quality. Thank you the Unsworth's for making us feel so welcome, see you soon.

Sadly, the pottery was closed on both occasions when I had made a special journey to visit. Both times I arrived at the shop at 10.00 am ish, and the notice on the door said opening at 9.30 am - the door was firmly closed with no sign of anyone! I would have loved to visit this shop, but sadly couldn't.

Called to check pottery open and politely ask if there was a good time to visit the shop and also perhaps see pottery being made, if he was intending to be making pottery that day (other reviews indicated that if you were lucky, this could be seen from the shop without encroaching into the workshop ie not a covid issue). Perhaps a stupid question but chap on the phone said "it's not a natural history museum" and was just so rude... as if the idea of being interested in seeing pottery being made, at a pottery.... that does mention demonstrations and workshops on the website and being able to see pottery being made... is some sort of insulting and freakish suggestion. I tried to recover from that and be friendly, said we would be popping into the shop at some point anyway because so many reviews have raved about the lovely pottery and he said "I shall count the minutes until I see your smiling face"! So we didn't go. Visited Bentham Pottery, and spent our money with the very friendly and welcoming lady there instead. For all I know, Ingleton Pottery makes great pottery and sells it at low prices but they can keep it if they find the most basic level of curiousity about their craft so insulting. There was no need at all to be so sarcastic and rude, maybe just "it doesn't work like that, I can't give you a time" would have been better?

Lovely shop with beautiful pottery. I've been watching their videos on YouTube for a long time so when I was in the area I had to go. Unfortunately could only buy something small due to limited space.

Nice pottery, at good prices.
The down side was the attempt by the guy behind the counter at what he obviously thought was Yorkshire humour. But actually it wasn’t funny, just verging on rude. I am actually a Yorkshire lass, and use to the funny quirks of some Yorkshire folk, but he actually made me feel rather uncomfortable. Not a great customer experience and I think his manor will thwart repeat business.

Lovely pottery items for sale at unexpectedly reasonable prices. Unfortunately no one was in the shop so we didn't meet the "friendly owners" mentioned in other reviews. A bell was provided to ring for assistance. Beautiful oil lamps, wine goblets etc. and some quirky pieces for sale. We will certainly visit again and maybe buy some Christmas presents here.

Me and my partner popped into the shop twice in September during our visit.
Nice place and very well situated, but both times we had the impression that the staff there didn't really care for our custom. We tried to say hello and engage with you and we were completely ignored.
Despite this, we are happy with the two items we bought, they are good quality pieces and look very nice.

He only lets kids make pots on special open days, his next open day is the August Bank holiday weekend. they are well worth visiting, if you call into the shop Dick the owner is usually working away making pots. so yes it is worth a visit, and the village and surrounding area is beautiful.
