Free entrance. Take a grab from KFC in Semporna town approximately RM11 to get there. To save your budget better go in grouping more cheaper. It will takes around 30 minutes to reach there. If possible come early because the place will close at 5 pm. So you can have more time to enjoy the stunning view if you come early.

Suitable for nature lovers and hikers. Mind your step and climb slowly. Do not rushing just enjoy the breeze and amazing view surrounding you. Don't forget to witness the sunset and take photo or selfie for your remembrance. Get down before the sun go down and dark for your safety purpose. Wear a suitable shoes for your convenience.

Highly recommended and it's a must to visit.

An 11RM Grab ride from KFC takes you there. From above the few hundred wooden steps you have a beautiful 360 degree view over Semporna area. You can see the volcano caldera from up there. In the museum at the foot of the steps one can learn about this archeological site. One of the two guys from the museum reception (you have to register before your ascend) took us back to town for the Grab rate.

Pros:
- Free entrance, you just need to sign in
- Pretty views and there are like four viewing platforms to take breathers and enjoy the view

Cons:
- It is quite steep and some of the wooden planks are missing so there are gaps in the steps. Not suitable for the very young or elderly who find climbing many steps difficult.

Tips:
If you're staying in Semporna then the best way to get there is taxi. Grab is an app like Uber where you can request a taxi and know in advance how much the journey will cost. We paid around 10 ringgitt from Semporna centre.

- wear insect repellant there are a lot of mosquitos there

- Keep your possessions close. There are small wild monkeys that live near the steps and could grab your things

After a couple of great days snorkeling islands, we wanted to do something outside of the water for out our remaining half-day. Few locals we asked had any good excursion suggestions. Finally, we received a recommendation for hiking Bukit Tengkorat. I was a perfect short activity. 30 mins up, 15 mins down and many good minutes up top taking in the amazing rocks, landscape views and ancient shards of history. It was a nice esape.

A great place for a quick hike / walk to the peak of the hill. It only takes 15 minutes or so to reach the top. The views from the peak are just nice. If you are into photography, this place is a must go. Do try to ask if you can go there for sunrise / sunset - I joined a photography workshop a few years ago, there, and we took sunset photos which were stunning!

Now, visitors can opt to do flying fox, abseiling, wall climbing etc at very cheap fees. A friend did the flying fox. The best part is that, the staffs are super friendly and kind.

Highly recommended!

It take about 15-20 minutes from Semporna town by car. From here, you can see the whole Semporna and the islands nearby. This place is very close to a well-known seafood restaurant (Warisan Restaurant if i'm not mistaken) in Tampi-Tampi.

Also closed to Scuba Tiger where you can book for jet skiing, banana boat and island hopping.
Those who needs guide, i can accompany you since my workplace is about 30mins from here..😜😜

I knew about Tengkorak Hill from a friend who lives in Semporna near Tampi-tampi. He ask me to join him climb up to the hill. This place became famous after a team of archeologist checked the place and suddenly found ancient ruins of very old clay pot and clay dish with some ancient markings, a clear signs that this place has been used by ancient people as home. You can simply said ancient people actually live in Tengkorak Hill.

Tengkorak HIll is suitable for light trekking and exploration activity. You can walk outside the archeological area and walk in the area nearby. Most of the top area is covered with green grass. There is only one big three up there and you can see the tree from the ground before reaching the museum site.

If you see the top of Tengkorak HIll from the ground below especially if you're standing near SMK Agama Tun Sakaran, you can see the big black rock that sits on the top. Local people called this hill as 'Bukit Tengkorak' means 'skull hill' because there are a lot of human skulls and bones on the peak below the big black rock. Actually, the rock is a cave with 'A' letter peaky roof shape. It acts as a shelter.

The wind is blews strong when you reached the top. It is worth the climb. Years ago before the local authorities build the stairs for easy climbing, local people used to go up by hiking along a man-made walkway across the jungle. Now, if you want to climb to the top to Tengkorak Hill, all you have to do is pay the entrance fee and then just climb by following the stairs.

On your way up, there will be some stopping point. You can sit to relax and catch a breath while enjoying the view of the surroundings.

The best time to climb is at early morning or at evening. But usually Tengkorak Hill gets heavily crowded at evening. There are not so many tourists around. You will not see so many Koreans and Chinese at Tengkorak Hill.

Most of the climbers were local people. They love to go there because they want to enjoy the high hill scenery and the peaceful wind. Most of them were young couples, students, youths. Most of the young couple love to enjoy their dating up there.

At the time I went to Tengkorak Hill or Bukit Tengkorak, some people make a pre wedding photo shoot there.

This place not suitable for seniors because climbing up to the top of tengkorak hill sure give a big headache and sudden heart attack.

Tengkorak Hills is suitable for nature lover, outdoor enthusiast, fitness enthusiasts and photographers. You will not regret after you see the beautiful view.

When you climb, i suggest you to bring along 100 Plus or any isotonic drinks because you will need energy a lot. Don't bring so many stuff because it gets heavy on the way up. Just bring along necessary things such as cameras, smartphone, simple snacks, drinks.

That was the positive par. Here's the negative part.

I was so upset because Tengkorak Hill does not have proper dust bin. You can see people littering around and you will see many rubbish such as Coca Cola cans, mineral water bottle and plastic rubbish.

I wonder why local authority charges entrance fee for any visitors but does not take care of the place very well. They only care about money but do not care about cleanliness of the place although it is a popular attraction spot for tourists.

Seeing a rubbish in the place makes my vacation mood fades away. I really hope local authorities do something about that after reading my review.
