Do not miss this major site which is easy to get to from Xpujil (70-80 pesos by taxi). The sites features nice palaces and monumental buildings, all located in fairly thick forest.

we have stopped by on our way back from the calakmul ruins. Here we were the only people arround and the quite big complex has been really impressive. We highly recommend to stop by for a visit!

The capital of the Río Bec culture and bigger than Chicanná or Xpujil. If you're in the area anyway, you should go. Don't miss the impressive stucco sculpture.

Becan is a much larger site with much bigger structures than I expected. It’s conveniently very close to the main Highway 186. Allow plenty of time since there’s so much to see there. Trying to do Becan and then driving all the way to Calakmul...More
