First visit to Rhodes Town, we wandered about and came across this pretty square so stopped for a beer and to do a bit of people watching. Beer was about 4 times the price of the rest of the town. Fortunately didn't order the food....More

When the cruise ships are in this was a very busy entry point to the city. However when they were not in it was an open space to breathe in the atmosphere of the city

Beautiful square, lots of people from all over the world. Charming stores. Close to this square there is the Holocaust Memorial in memory of the Jews of Rhodes and Kos who were murdered in the Holocaust. From the square you can access the nearby synagogue.

Beautiful place and well worth a visit when in the old town but slightly ruined by the profusion of expensive but naff restaurants and their very pushy touts trying to get you to eat/drink in their overpriced establishments.

I had the pleasure of visiting Rhodes in Sept., the crowds were low and is was easy to get around. Plenty of restaurants in the sqaure. I had no encounters with touts. But I did meet a lot of nice locals.

I expect this was once a pretty square, with its little owl-topped fountain (pigeons included) and the historic Castellania Municipal Library, but it's now so choked with over-priced restaurants and their pushy touts that's not somewhere to linger anymore. Sure, you can sit on the...More

Full of touts in their vulgar manner try to inveigle the 'lost' tourist off the cruise, to part with their money! There are better places to people watch. However good to stop for a gelato. Full of shops. Too crowded. Fountain is a good place...More

Plateia Ippokratous (Hippocrates Square) is THE focal point for all tourist activity in the Old Town. It *is* atmospheric and without the crowds could even be called pretty, but it is over-subscribed to. It is a confusing jungle of 'Greek Steak Houses', pizzerias and pasta...More

I say run because the restaurants around the Platia are manned by some seriously talented people who are trying to get you into the various establishments. Watching the guys is a lesson in not ever giving up, we had a ball simply sitting on the...More
