We were in Montagu only for an our or two and was so lucky to spot the village market just before everybody started to pack up. There were some interesting stalls, as well as fresh produce, olives, art and a great vibe.

Very quiet when we went on that particular Saturday morning, mostly food, not many craft stalls. Not the best market we have been to.

Small but well run market with a good selection of local produce and food stalls. Delicious pancakes and breakfast rolls. Awesome cheese and yoghurt.

Not everything has to big to be amazing. I was a bit sceptical at first, but was pleasantly surprised. There are about 10 - 13 stalls and was bustling. Mostly food (local cuisine) and some oddities and children toys. Pet friendly as well (it is...More

The market is the best way to mingle with the locals. We loved chatting to the owners of Karoo Coffee and hearing about how they made the switch from city to country living. You can also get local produce at a fraction of the price...More

We were in Montagu for a few days anyway, so we visited the market. It was much smaller than we had anticipated - so there was not much choice to buy. Maybe our expectations had been too high. We finally had a very good pancake...More

What a lovely country market. Good food and tasty treats make it a worthwhile stop. Great book finds and friendly stall owners.
