We walked up the hill early in the morning. It's was a beautiful Spring morning and we were the only tourists. It had a special feel to it and I would have liked to stay longer. The views were amazing back over the town. Well...More

I was the only person there, walking along the ancient walls that had seen who knows what and who knows when. The castle is situated on top of a high hill, and is surrounded by a medieval city. Inside the fortress wall is a cemetery...More

Do not think that you will find a real “Castle”, the only thing you will see are the outsider walls in a real good condition. They are starting behind the church. The inside of what should be the caste, is transformed into a cemetery, the...More

Very cool to visit a cemetery inside a castle. The views from the walk around the castle were good. The drive up and down was narrow and exhilarating. Parking is limited.

During the night a walk around walls is highly recommended. Worth the visit! Nothing more than this.

Perfect view, nice building. Walking around the wall outside was nice, but it was even better when climbing on the wall. Only one warning, if travel in very hot time, make sure you have some cover with you.

The interior of the castle is given over to the city cemetery. Foreign visitors may take some interest in this with its sepulchers and walls housing boxes with the remains of the deceased. (In Portugal the remains are exhumed after a number of years and...More

The walk to the castle takes you around some of Santiago's nicest palaces. Worth a visit. The cemetery inside the castle is quite suggestive. Unfortunately, the church was closed.
