Well preserved and distinctive Stave Church from the 12th century outside the town of Borgund. There is a visitors center that features additional information and exhibitions. Love these churches - architecturally and for the craftsmanship.

Quite the impressive sight when you come around the bend. It's open to the public, but you are not allowed to use camera flash inside and there is no lighting except the natural that seeps in the doors. Dont forget to buy the ticket at...More

One of the few remaining stave churches in Norway; that is, it is built of wood without nails and also remains in service for the area. Interesting to view from all inside and external angles with dragon's heads coming out of the roof.

The offices were closed when we got there, it was a rainy day so no people around, but it was a very interesting building to see.

This wonderful church is a must see. It is difficult to comprehend how this structure has been around since the 12th century. While there have been alterations to the building over the years, it still feels like a church inside. It is small but easily...More

Worth a visit, a spectacular stave church, not too far from the main road. Parking just across the road.

Norway's best preserved Stave church, constructed 1180 AD. Also one of the only bell towers left. You park at Visitir's centre, pay admission and walk to the church. I would recommend going through the displays at the Visitors centre first as you can learn a...More
