A giant sunmirror is installed on the mountainside in Rjukan. Rjukan is a valley with high mountains, which result in no sun during the winter. Dus a mirror is installed. It reflects the sunraiz and sends it into the market square in Rjukan. The sun mirror is now described as one of the biggest attractions in Norway.

The sun is not visible in the valley from October to March. We read that they had placed these mirrors up on the mountain to shine down in the main square. So we decide to see them while visiting the area. I neat concept to...More

As long as you consider this attraction as a gimmick you will not be disappointed. The sun mirror is quite minute in size, as it is several hundred of meters above you, about 15 meter in diameter. The result is a small patch of sun...More

At first, the mirror was hard to find. And when we finally found it, we walked quite a distance to get to see the sun shine from it. The mirror was a lot smaller than I expected and it did not light up the whole...More

Had read about it some time ago but completely forgotten. Became aware of it when standing in the middle of the square and sunbeams hit u from the north! Some may think this is just another tourist attraction but I definitely see the locals point...More

I thought our guide was kidding when she said that mirrors had been installed on the top of the mountain to deflect sunlight down onto the main square in the town, but no, there they were in full view from the main road. Clearly, being...More

We were driving through Rjukan and had planned to visit the town square to see the small area of sunlight reflected by the mirrors. We were worried it may be hard to find but immediately spotted it whilst driving past, even that first glimpse was...More

If you are in Rjukan take the cable car and go to the top where you can walk over to the sun mirror. This is such an innovative concept as a solution to SAD and lack of exposure to sunlight. You can see them also...More

The square had a face-lift last year and is the logical place to start your town-walk. Study the statue, the civic-buildings' architecture, go shopping, have a coffee or walk south to see beautiful "German Town" (Tyskerbyen). The square is right next to them all and...More

We visited Rjukan on a sunny day, so we could not feel the importance of this idea fully, but in any case the size of the mirrors is impressive and technology behind as well. We did not try to walk up, but may try when...More
