From afar, you can already see that the belfry needs renovation. I actually hoped to be able to go inside and get to the top but the door is closed and the stairs are obstructed. I do not know if there is another way in but I did not find one.
It is indeed unfortunate that it has been neglected. Such old and historical buildings should be renovated and restored.

It is quite easy to find this attraction due to its height. Near it is the Cathedral, Quezon Park, City Hall and the Fruit Market.

It is simple but the structure is very amazing. I capture a good shot of this. It is open for public. No entrance fee required.

This belfry that can be found right outside of the Cathedral of Dumaguete is pretty historic. Interesting that it was able to stand the test of time. Probably to remind us of Dumaguete's past. It served as a watch tower to warn the people of incoming pirate attacks. Now it serves as a place of veneration, once the image of the Virgin Mary, got added. It serves as a place of prayer and offering.

Built in 1811, the Dumaguete Belfry acted as an early warning device announcing of an incoming marauder and pirate attacks from the sea. It has stood the test of time and the Second World War. It is one of the city’s well known landmark and has become a symbol of both love and bravery for the local townsfolk. The belfry is a proud reminder of a small piece of history that shouldn’t be miss by visitors exploring the history of the City of Dumaguete.

It's a must see in dumaguete next to the church . It's a place off worship so make chure you don't dress to revealing .

This is one of the tourist attractions offered in Dumaguete city. Don't forget to drop by as it is easily found in the city center, beside the St Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral; preferrably when the sun still shines because lights are insufficient/dim during night time for your photo-op.

Located just right outside the Cathedral of Dumaguete, this tower is a silent witness to the once turbulent history of the city. It was one of the original watch towers built to look out for Muslims attacking the city from the sea at that time. Today it functions simply as a belfry.

Old and Historical Landmarks should always be kept and preserved. It reminds us of where we came from and that's always worth remembering. Around the Belfry area, though, are plenty of masseuses offering their services. A foot spa after walking around town is very enticing!

Located next to St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral and opposite Quezon park. It’s a beautiful respite in the middle of the city. It is a beauty at night.
Considered as the oldest belfry in Negros Oriental and served as a lookout to warn townfolks of incoming pirates.
Rizal Blvd. is arpund 10 minute walk from here. The public market is a 5 minute walk. There are banks, fast food, and restos near the belfry.
Go figure out, what you want to do first.
