Known as Dumaguete cathedral for its exquisite architectural design, was constructed way back 1754 and has been reconstructed to last till this date, known to be the oldest stone church in Negros Oriental, a very nice place to pray and visit for Catholics and tourists as well.

When you get tired of roaming around the city and strolling by Rizal Blvd. and the sea and you need a place for some spiritual respite, then the cathedral is the place for you. It is was built in the 18th century and is considered as the oldest stone church in the whole island of Negros. The interior is quite simple, while the area under the main dome is quite modern and colorful. The facade, on the other hand, has a simple Neo-Romanic style.

Place of Worship gets good reviews from me simply because it serves its purpose to the locals and to the tourists who seek spiritual guidance. Locals and visitors who are catholics would naturally flock to this cathedral to pray. Since the cathedral is promoted as a tourist attraction that invites people from all walks of life, improvement is necessary in terms of services, information, etc. the architecture is good though.

Drop by this church on a walking tour from the market, to the park and Belfry, and on the way to Silliman. As with any old Philippine church, it has colorful antique tiles and gilding. It's not too special except for the columns topped with statues at the gates.

It's always a practice for me and my wife to pass by the nearest available church whenever we visit a place. Nice facade, clean floors/pews and a quiet place to do meditation. But seems window bays are dirty and have seen several empty bottles of bottled water dumped on it. We also noticed that old 20-watts flourescent lamp is installed on top of the windows, making it hard to thoroughly clean the windows because of exposed electrical wiring. We suggest that church management convert it to CFL or LED (if budget permits) bulb system. We also suggest that volunteers be asked to clean debris especially inside.

The Cathedral is a landmark in the city and very well maintained. It would be great if there were NOT a parking lot right in front of it and a garden instead to accentuate the beauty. The columns in front with various saints on them adds some uniqueness to it, however there are other old churches in the Philippines that are a lot more interesting. It is nice that at least one side of the Plaza has a historical building facing it rather than just a modern concrete block.

When ever i visit Dumaguete, i never fail to pass by here and pray. A modern architecture of a church. If you want an antique feel of a church and this is not a place to be. Truly a place of worship for Catholics.

If you are in the area check out the inside of this church. It is a massive and very nice. There are enormous fans on the ceiling, the latest you’ll ever see that keep a nice breeze in there.

We popped by as we were n the neighbourhood, but definitely wouldn't have made a trip for this.
The outside looks relatively pretty, but the entrance is swarmed by beggars and cripples.
We had a look inside, but the inside was not much to talk about, ruined by this weird obsession with neon lighting.
