My wife and I were in South Island on our honeymoon, and decided to go horseback riding. Samantha, our guide, was extremely patient and friendly. Our horses were gentle and good tempered (both my wife and I are first time riders). They also made a...More

Cardrona is more a spot to stop for a little history and heritage. Other then that there is a post office, old hotel and a gift shop. We did check out the ‘Bradrona Fence’ a real tourist attraction for breast cancer fundraising where we also...More

The Top Beat ride, aimed at more experienced riders- is incredible. Plenty of places to canter/gallop, with stunning scenery and Kelly gives a great commentary on the history of the Cardrona area- original settlers, mining industry and the farm. The horses have such a lovely...More

We called into the Hotel on our way to Wanaka. We have been here before and definitely would not go past without at least stopping for a quick drink. We had a delicious lunch and sampled a local pinot noir and an ale. Both the...More

I’m not sure if there are taxis in Wanaka. If not you will have to hire a car. Note that the Cardrona Hotel that I reviewed is some distance from the snowfields. The hotel is about 20 minutes drive from Wanaka town.
