Follow this simple trail in Skaftafell national park and you get really close to the glacier. The different colors of the ice are great, the views are amazing BUT seeing how far the glacier had retreated is a bit on the sad side.

While the approach road may not be the best, Svinafell is a great spot to get great views of the glacier tongue without having to hike.
