It’s early enough in the low season that hotels and restaurants are still open, but the water is super murky. No point in snorkeling, and too hot to lie on the beach all day. Still a decent beach but nothing like the pictures.

There are flight directly from Bagan (Nyaung-u) to Ngapali in the morning (1 flight per day) or 1 stop flight nearly afternoon operated by KBZ airline that I took in order I can see the sunrise in Bagan before leaving for Ngapali. Flights are from 100$ up. Went in Feb, weather is really good. People said it's not good in Ngapali for rainy season, and most of business are closed. You can reference this link, people advice some beaches near Yangon for day trip if you still want to go to the beach in August. Tripadvisor don't allow to put a link, I copied what others give feedback for you as below: - Beaches in August will not be very good. August is right in the middle of the raining season in Myanmar. Besides, most of the business at beaches close during that time. If u still want to, check the update when your are in Yangon as there are two beaches reached by road from there on a day trip. (not day return) - Chaung Thar and Ngway Saung beaches. Both can be reached by road via a town called Pathein from Yangon. Please be sure to update when you are in Yangon whether it is ok or not to go. - The best option to visit year round is Ngwe Saung Beach ( Silver beach ). The sand and sea is better than Chaung Tha. The driving hour is 5 hour by taxi or full day by bus. Several standard hotels ( from basic 20 USD to 200 USD ) and half of them closed during June to September. Easy to find out rooms within low season. Road condition is fine. -If you want to visit in August Ngwe Saung Beach better for you . Most of the Hotel will close in the raining season . Basically , if you want to visit Ngapali Beach . You will have to get a Hotel there . But if you visit Ngwe Saung Beach there is no problem to find out Hotel. Ngwe Saung is nice Sand and very clean water . It is about 9 miles long . If you visit in August you should visit Ngwe Saung Beach Cheers!
