Wildlife Grazing

Another great spot in the park to view wildlife. Plenty of buffalo and antelope, even a few deer. The wide open space has plenty of pull offs and trails to stop at and take in all the Valley has to offer.

Full of Wildlife
Oct 2020
We saw numerous Buffalo (up close and far away). Also saw numerous elk including 2 that were close and pushing each other with their antlers. Not really fighting but testing each other. One coyote hunting. Beautiful place and worth the drive. It was snowing some and icy.

Absolutely gorgeous!
Sep 2020 • Couples
The drive from the Canyon area through the Hayden Valley to Yellowstone Lake is absolutely gorgeous. There are numerous turnouts to stop and soak in the view of the valley, Yellowstone River and native wildlife. When God made heaven he used the Hayden Valley for reference.

Great place to see wildlife. But that’s Yellowstone you see wildlife everywhere. Came here saw bison and of course saw what my buddy said was like winning lottery saw grizzly attack a buck and kill him in river. Crazy ... love Yellowstone!

Great area to view wildlife
Sep 2020
We drove through the area several times as we traveled along the Grand Loop Road. We always saw Bison and often saw Elk and Antelope.

Once we encountered a Bison Traffic Jam that stopped traffic in both directions for more than 20 minutes.

GORGEOUS
Aug 2020
Hayden Valley and Lamar Valley are the best places to view wildlife and sit/relax within the park. If something 'cool' is gonna happen, it's probably gonna happen here!

From mountains and plains to this lovely meadow area

Loved the diversity of the scenery at Yellowstone! We expected mountains, geothermal sights, woods, and lakes the valley was like a bonus sight that was equally lovely. We saw bison there, too. So fun!

Were to see the Bison
Sep 2020
Both days that we were in the park, the valley was filled with bison. Some walking along the road and stopping traffic. Go in the morning if you want to avoid the crowds. It is packed in the afternoon.

Beautiful!!
Sep 2020 • Couples
We went here for sunset and sunrise. On sunset we didn't see much except bison and elk in the very far distance. For sunrise though we saw a bear at a elk carcass!! It was an amazing thing to see. Overall i recommend going at sunrise to see what activity may be left from overnight! Folks said they also saw a wolf but we got there too late to see it.

Unfortunately we did not see any Wildlife
Sep 2020
After visiting the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, we drove through Hayden Valley at around 11:30 am on a Friday (9/4). Unfortunately, probably due to the time of day, we did not see any animals. The Valley looked very pretty though!

We stayed near the West Yellowstone entrance and every morning on our drive to Madison Junction, we would see bison on that stretch of the road. We actually saw more wildlife there than anywhere else.
