This mountain is full of fumaroles, and so the whole mountain hisses and emits steam. It's a nice place to stop and wonder at the geologic activity on the way from Mammoth to Norris.

We did not bother stopping as we were geysered out by the 3rd day. This is beautiful white geyser by the roadside so we viewed it from the car.

Roaring Mountain is a nice little stop on the way to Mammoth. A large parking area is on both sides of the road. Information signs explain the history of the area. The mountain no longer "roars" like it apparently did back when the area was...More

I enjoyed visiting this area but definitely not a must see. Very interesting area though. It's cool to see the mountain fuming.

My son wanted to stop for a photo of Roaring Mountain. There is a pullout with parking. It's just a few steps to see and hear the mountain hissing.
