I tried to go to the ruins after hiking to Lulumahu Falls, but I couldn’t find the right trailhead. I went home, found an old email and had no trouble finding it on our 2nd trip. Easy, short hike to a neat and historic location....More

Easy walk thru the bamboo forest, around 1.5 miles or so. Trail entrance is marked with pink plastic, no sign. Trail was well marked also. So impressive how it was built so long ago and walls still standing.

To get to the ruins you need to hike through the bamboo forest. It is normally very muddy. Bring extra shoes towels and some water to rinse off after the hike.

Took a 4, 6, and 9 year old and they were fine. Great Hawaii history! Very private peaceful walk in a bamboo forest. Muddy but there are ways around most of it.
