Easy walk thru the bamboo forest, around 1.5 miles or so. Trail entrance is marked with pink plastic, no sign. Trail was well marked also. So impressive how it was built so long ago and walls still standing.

Apparently the locals have recently made these ruins difficult to find. There are no signs to the ruins and the trail to find them is though a thick bamboo forest. I asked one local and she had never heard of them and another acted as...More

To get to the ruins you need to hike through the bamboo forest. It is normally very muddy. Bring extra shoes towels and some water to rinse off after the hike.

Took a 4, 6, and 9 year old and they were fine. Great Hawaii history! Very private peaceful walk in a bamboo forest. Muddy but there are ways around most of it.

I've been meaning to come here for a while. Finally, drove out on the Pali. Turned on Old Pali Road and just past the water station (if you're heading towards Kailua), you'll find a trail into a bamboo forest on the left side of the...More

1847 era ruins of Hawaiian King Kaniakapupu. Still standing are 4 walls, the long stone main entrance and the huge luau pit. Getting there is half the fun. It starts from the same main entrance as for the Lulumahu Falls hike. The website directions are...More
