DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME with this charter. We were sooooo disappointed. Two bites in 8 hrs of fishing?? One of the other people on our 6 person charter caught a little 30 lb mahi mahi. NO BITES THE REST OF THE DAY. We kept asking/begging to use either live or dead bait. Because regular lures weren't working. And they... More

Aloha Sir, fishing in Hawaii is a lot different than fishing in Texas. In Texas you’re fishing around oil rigs and chumming works well. In Hawaii the current moves too fast, and the water is way too deep for bottom fishing. The lures we were using had been working well the last several days & had caught Marlin the day... More

I booked a three-quarter day private charter for a party of four onboard the Whipsaw for May 15th. We arrived at the dock around 5:45 am where they met Captain Mike and Shane. We left the dock around 6 am. Captain Mike saw a small pile of birds and headed in their direction. As he approached, WHAM; the rigger came... More

The owner Don, is super nice. Great crew. We had an enjoyable day. Definitely recommend this company for a fishing day. Except I got seasick (not their fault). Lesson learned, take medicine the night before, and then again a couple of hours before you leave. Also, we did buy the food option. $50 a person. It is nice and convenient... More

I went twice with Whipsaw and found the Crew extremely professional, personable and very knowledgeable of the waters. They were out to catch fish and were not messing. We ended up with Mahi mahi, Wahoo, and Skipjack Tuna. We landed nine fish in all and when we returned, we were the only boat with such luck. Awesome day out. If... More

I went out with my father in law and watching these guys try to keep lures running correctly was like watching a circus. The captain (I guess you could call him that) was almost 45 minutes late to meet us at the dock (no apology). The only thing good about this charter is that they charge less than other charters... Mike and crew are really good guys. Very personable. They know what they are doing in the waters out of Honolulu. They will not venture too far looking for fish. Bring lots of beverages and be sure not to suffer sea sickness if you want to enjoy yourself. you will have to like cigarette smoke as the captain is continually... More

You must experience this! Don Hackman and his crew were extremely professional and great to hang out with. Most importantly Don knew exactly where to go and I caught a 200lb Ahi which I ate on for days!! I felt very safe and had a great time out on the water, I highly recommend a full day charter!

We booked about a month out before arriving in Hawaii. We were scheduled to go out on the 6th day of our trip. We did not pick the day they did to make sure it worked well with them. We called twice to make sure we were good to go while we were in Hawaii. They said yes they will... More
