Very beautiful location, excellent for surfing, fishing, paths for bike riding and walking, popular for wedding shoots, the best sunsets and views of waikiki with diamond head also one of the best spots if you want a private air show to watch the fighter jets doing maneuvers over pearl harbor . But there is a dark side to it, the park used to be a landfill in the 50s or 60s and many bodies were dumped there leaving it haunted to this day. Do not swim there with any scratches wounds or open sores unless you want to catch MERSA or STAPH infection. Very dangerous at night. Used to live there when i was homeless.

There were some big waves crashing in with lots of surfers riding them.

We watched for several minutes, enjoying the blue water and landscape. It was a fun spot to visit.

This park is surrounded by many homeless people. We had a real bad experience. We were on our way to airport on the rental car, we had 3 hrs to kill before heading to airport and it was sunset time so thought lets see one more sunset in Ohau before leaving. So went here parked our car and went to see the sunset. We were back in 30 min but was shocked as some one broke our passenger window, opened our trunk and emptied the whole trunk. Lost 5 suitcases which had by laptop, DSLR, hard drive and so on .. Luckily the passport was in my wife handbag. Thus after returning the damanaged car we returned back to Canada with empty-handed. Luckily we had wallet and passport. So please don't leave anything in the car. I don't want anyone face the same experience we faced with our 10 years old son. All his toys and fav book along with his gadgets were stolen that day. Eventhough we had 10 amazing days in Hawaii this last day comes to our memory when anyone says about Hawaii.

Be careful and have a nice trip.

Free parking & really nice walking/biking paths. Large homeless & cat populations though. Great area to watch the sunset. Always a lot of couples getting their wedding photos done here. Also has restrooms and two stairways to access the ocean. Near the cruise terminals.

Won't let me go back to when I last visited but it's still a place that brings back great memories of bring in the new year(s) before I was an official resident of the island. And they usually have somethings going on throughout the year so if your on the island look it it up an see what festivities will be taking place while your here.

This is an amazing beach! It's beautiful, has incredible views, and it's not as crowded as some other beaches, at least not while we were there.

This beach used to be a bare field, with a small path leading to the black rocks where we would jump in with our fins and bodyboards and Rush 'Point Panic'! Since the 80's, they have created a beautiful park and walking paths, covered areas with picnic tables for parties or a meal by the sea, and showers to rinse off after a nice swim. The only down side is that sharks tend to frequent this area because of the harbor, and the fish guts which are thrown into the water after those with boats and fishing gear clean their daily catch. It also gets very windy in the afternoons as it is on a point protruding into the ocean. Bring a jacket if you are there after 3 pm! Especially during the winter and spring months.

Another great find, close to cruise ship terminal. 10-15 minute walk from there. Lots of grassy areas and a lovely walking area around the ocean. Very pretty, wedding photoshoot going on when we were there. Can see Ala Moana Park from here. Washrooms I went into were iffy, no doors on the cubicles. Lots of people living in tents but they did their own thing. People in the water but from what I remember it was mainy chunks of lava, don't remember much sand, not that kind of area. Struck me as the type of place you walked through but didn't spend the whole day. Ala Moana Park better for that. Nice place, great walking area. Easy to walk to.

I was waiting for my friend and as a tourist after 4pm (which is the time most attractions close), I instinctively looked for the sea. The closest park was the Kakaako Waterfront Park. It was so unexpected, I walked and walked and went over the little hills where everyone was lying down soaking the sun or taking wedding photos. Once I finally reached the top, I saw the beautiful sparkling sea water ahead of me. I walked on the rocks and could see 3 people snorkelling while I listened to the waves crashing on the rocks below me.

The sight was mesmerising. Also it wasn't crowded at all! I love love loved it. The sunset was beautiful too. I probably took way too many photos. Oh and then after the sunset, we realised that the view from the left side of the park is better because you can see Diamond Head. There were a lot of photo enthusiasts on that side haha.

Warning: There are lots of wild cats around but they don't seem harmful at all. :) Lots of homeless too, but they aren't really in the way, only in the shower areas. Didn't bother me at all.
