About
This iconic landmark in Waikiki is one of Hawaii’s most famous beaches, located on the south shore of Oahu. Waikiki Beach is the birthplace of modern surfing culture—look out for the statue of renowned waterman Duke Kahanamoku, who popularized the sport internationally. Once the playground of Hawaiian royals, today the beachfront is lined with resorts and some of Hawaii’s most historic hotels. Surfers, swimmers, and sunbathers flock to this beach all day long. Boat tours in Waikiki are a great way for admiring the coast away from the crowds. Neighboring Kalākaua Avenue has plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. – Tripadvisor

    Very Crowded
Waikiki Beach is beautiful and conveniently located. However, the beach was extremely crowded, and it’s not exactly one of the “best” beaches on the island. Come here early and have a relaxing beach day near your hotel, or enjoy the sunset. If you want to visit a truly exceptional beach though, this is not it (Try Lanikai Beach instead!).

    Busy but beautiful!
We were staying one block from the beach so we’re able to visit a couple of times during the day. In morning the tide was low however water is refreshing when hot. Went back in afternoon when tide was higher. Part has a beach wall that creates a safe place for kids to swim, and the rest is for surfers and those wanting to body board. It is busy so if you want a quieter beach there are plenty of others. You can hire umbrellas and loungers however they are quite expensive e.g $20 per hour for an umbrella and they sell out fast. One if the challenges is limited toilet facilities, they have port-a-Loos while they are doing restorations. Anyway you are always close to an ABC store for a cold drink so enjoy !

The Water's Great, Gets Crowded, though
The water and the beach experience here is easy to recommend, but get there early, or plan for a short visit as the beach gets crowded with both guests and companies that stake their claim in the beach in the early morning. My primary recommendation would be to walk along the beach a ways, though, as you can get some very nice spots with just a 3 to 5 minute walk in either direction. Beaches in Hawaii aren't allowed to be private, so go ahead and set up just outside the hotels.

Waikiki Beach - so much better than I remembered!
Such a cool, easy, laid back place to hang out. The park behind was shady and cool, the beach was not overly busy down the far end, the snorkelling was entry level (tangs, small parrot fish, trigger fish and of course humuhumunukanukapua’a!) but on the first evening we dropped by there was the added bonus of two Hawaiian Monk Seals sunbathing on the shore, and a turtle scooting around in the shallows! Also ate takeaway udon in the moonlight on the beach in front of the twinkly hotels on our last night - heavenly!

Iconic beautiful white sand beaches with great amenities and busy vibe
Sure, it is not a private beach where you can relax. It is Waikiki Beach after all. We just love how beautiful it is, surrounded by great resorts so you could pop in for a cocktail. Lots of public space with good facilities. We simply got some beach chairs from the resort we were staying at, settle down by some palm trees, sat in the shade, did a lot of people watching. Then enjoyed the ocean, many areas shallow and perfect for families.

    Best beach on Oahu.
Since we were steps away from this fantastic beach we made it a habit to take a morning swim. One must bring NO valuables to the beach unless someone is sitting with them at all times. The beach is smooth and sandy amd since there is an offshore reef the shore break is gentle. The water is quite comfortable and it is like bathing. Can't pass it up.

    Iconic Beach
Iconic beach in Honolulu. Plenty of beach area available. Water is warm and clean. There are several sections of the beach - open, walled and surf, some of which have life guards. The currents are powerful so the walled area was appreciated. There are shower areas to get rid of the sand. Lots of grassy areas at the back and lounge chairs can be hired. Plenty of bars, eateries and souvenir shops nearby.

Sheraton Outrigger Hotel Waikiki Beach Hawaii
The Outrigger Hotel was one of the best we've ever stayed at. Our whole family loved it. The views were spectacular. We witnessed couples renewing their wedding vows on the beach. Restaurants and gift shops were nearby. We love the Hard Rock Cafe which was one block away. Out son's family took surfing lessons behind the hotel. We could see Diamondhead in the distance which we all climbed later.

    Love this Beach
We enjoyed morning walks on the beach. It was a perfect way to start the day before it got warm and busy with people. The walkway along the beach is also a perfect way to get up to places, such as restaurants and such, more central and northern. Even if you’re not a water person, don’t come to Oahu and not explore Waikiki Beach.

    Quintessential Hawaiian Beach
If you like crowds, this is a great beach. You can rent chairs and beach stuff nearby or from the hotels; the beach is relatively clean and the water is warm. But if you like quieter beaches, go to Ala Moana Beach or Magic Beach at the top end of Waikiki Beach. Same nice sand, more grassy areas and trees but farther from the madding crowd.

One of the world's most famous beaches, no question about that.
One of the most average beaches, also no questions about that.
But, movies, shows and tons of hotels around in a concrete jungle by the sea made it world famous.
It is a nice beach, but it's in fact a town beach, better say city beach.
On Oahu only, there're for sure 6-7 much better beaches. It's also not that big, so it gets very crowded.
We were in a hotel one block away, so we used it only for our morning swim and after that we explored the island in our rented car.

Waikiki Beach is stunning with golden sands, clear waters, and amazing views of Diamond Head. Great for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. Lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Can be crowded, but the energy and sunsets are worth it. A must-visit in Honolulu!

Of course it is world famous like Bondai and just as disappointing.
Ordinary at the best.
Clearly became famous due to it being the R and R centre for those brave Yankee boys.
Sand comes from Ozz and the Palm tree;s from Polly Neesia.
Gorra go but dint expect too muchy

Waikiki Beach is an absolute paradise! The golden sands, clear turquoise waters, and stunning views of Diamond Head make it a perfect spot for relaxation and adventure. There are plenty of activities, from surfing to beachside dining. It's clean, safe, and vibrant, with a wonderful mix of locals and tourists. An iconic destination that lives up to the hype—highly recommended for anyone visiting Honolulu!

A great beach in Honululu. It's busy, yes, but if you are staying in the area, avoid the drive and park and just walk to the beach. Easy peasy.

It's got the be the most famous beaches in the world??
Not as big as you’d think and does get crowded.
Excellent for surfing, sunbathing and people watching. The water is clean and warm.
Even spotted a sea turtle on a couple of different occasions.
Plenty of showers along the shore and some toilet facilities too.
Surfboard hire is very expensive on the beach.
I recommend Star Beachboys around 500 yards from the beach $10 dollars for 2 hours on the beach $30-40. $20 dollars for all day hire. On the beach it's anywhere from $60 - $100

We love this area, although it can be crowded. The sea wall is just an amazing floating area, especially if you have young children.

We visited here in May 2024. The beach is excellent. We have a condo about 2 block away from the beach. The water temperature felt great and the ways were fun. Highly suggest visiting here. It is a piece of heaven.

Fabulous trip, weather was great, Not too hot, people were friendly, Hamburgers were yummy and the Waffles with strawberries at The Cheesecake Factory were amazing, Highly recommned going upto The Skybar, Fabulus Food. Waikiki can be a little pricey but just gotta look around.. We did the 1 hour sail out from Waikiki Beach absolutely amazing.. $50 US each with drinks included.. Loved it.. can't wait to go back.. Uber can get expensive at peak hours so beware if heading back from the Outlet..but amazing trip..
