Don't forget to do a shaka when you take your picture in front of the statue as you are waiting for the trolley at the trolley stop here.

It is really beautiful to see how loved he is and how much the Hawaiian people respect him, I think other cultures would benefit from having the same admiration for positive role models in their community.

You can't miss the statue if walking along Waikiki beach. Seems to be the place many people leave their Lei. I had read about Duke Kahanamoku before arriving so knew about him and the history around him.

A visit to Waikiki is not complete without stopping to see the statue of Duke Kahanamoku...the true ambassador of Hawaii. It is right off the sidewalk and is usually covered with leis. Get a selfie and pay your homage to the Duke.

This is one of the "stroll along the beach" events you should enjoy on your trip to Oahu. The iconic statue seems to always have flowers and makes for a great photo.

The statue of the Duke is one of the busiest places along the Waikiki strip. Visitors from far and wide grabs the opportunity to take a quick selfie or photo op with the Duke. A must for first time visitors.

Well kept, well lighted and the fresh lei's were nice. The beach background is great for the typical tourist shots that are a must when in Hawaii.

After eating at Duke's we walked to this statue. Just seeing all the Lei's that were given to him was a nice jester. The Hawaiian people are very nice.
