It is really beautiful to see how loved he is and how much the Hawaiian people respect him, I think other cultures would benefit from having the same admiration for positive role models in their community.
You can't miss the statue if walking along Waikiki beach. Seems to be the place many people leave their Lei. I had read about Duke Kahanamoku before arriving so knew about him and the history around him.
A visit to Waikiki is not complete without stopping to see the statue of Duke Kahanamoku...the true ambassador of Hawaii. It is right off the sidewalk and is usually covered with leis. Get a selfie and pay your homage to the Duke.
The statue of the Duke is one of the busiest places along the Waikiki strip. Visitors from far and wide grabs the opportunity to take a quick selfie or photo op with the Duke. A must for first time visitors.
