FRUSTRATED!! Locals may know about all the one way streets and the inner secrets of parking but I certainly didn't. Sunday night about 6pm and I drove in circles up and down along dark streets looking for parking. Cars are inches from my bumper as I try to navigate. I wasn't about to park 6 blocks away and be expected to carry my camera bag with me so we left and ate by our hotel. HORRIBLE place if you don't know the area well. We never even had a chance to get out of the car. Even decided NOT to try and stop on Tuesday afternoon on our way out of town.

Had a great time walking around the downtown shops and restaurants. The Thai Restaurant on main street is outstanding!

A really great compact downtown area with numerous interesting niche shops and a host of coffee shops, bars and restaurants to suit almost every taste. It seems to vary from extremely busy to very quiet depending on the time of the year, with college life at the nearby NAU having a significant impact. Love the railroad and the huge freight trains that come passing through every 20-30 minutes or so.

There are plenty of restaurants and bars, there are some interesting old buildings to see. Shopping is almost non-existent. They have more to do to make this area appealing

If you like hard-to-find musical instruments with spiritual, cultural, or indigenous significance, I would highly recommend Sacred Rites on San Fransisco Street just off Route 66. The owner, Kelly, is very passionate about helping people connect to the Divine and offers all kinds of instruments and sacred art (figurines and prints) from different traditions around the world that help people tap into that realm. Ask Kelly to demonstrate for you the Singing Chair or Soundwave bed, that are basically monochords and are simply amazing to experience. Kelly calls these demonstrations "sound therapy" or "sound bathing."

The downtown area has some great old buildings with the Main Street on route 66.

Doesn’t take long to walk around it and something worth while doing.

We stopped at Flagstaff on the way to the Grand Canyon and did two worthwhile free self-guided walking tours. Stop by the Visitor Center to pick up the brochures. The Historic Tour takes about 30 minutes and gives you a good sense of the town. Even better, though, is the Route 66 Audio Tour (I think it took about 45 minutes). Visit about a dozen stops (all in town and easily walkable), dial a number on your phone, and listen to an audio tour of the history of the iconic road. The tour also passes several restaurants where you can sit outdoors (we had delicious coffee at Macy's). There are several cool murals along both routes.

Yes, a college town. Yes, craft breweries and shops. Yet it has a certain history and I think it still has some charm. When in the area, it seems worthy of a visit to me.

There are a dozen stores and two dozen restaurants in easy walking area. There was a small street festival in the central area where one block was closed. Crafts, hot chocolate, smores, a band. Great downtown area.

We were disappointed - about 6 years since we were last here, and it has changed a lot. Seems to be mainly publs/sports bars etc. Not quaint any more. The restaurants below the Railway line seem better.
