The first thing you need to know about Mark Kilby, who owns the Luray Zoo in Luray, Virginia, is that he thinks dogs make terrible pets. In fact, Kilby prefers reptiles. To prove his point, he boasts that his small zoo features "one of the...More

This zoo isn’t big but it was very personal level. The owner was around the property and is very hands on. Very grateful that these animals are given a second chance. By each animal, they have their story - how they came to Luray Zoo.

The wife and I stopped here after the caverns since we love animals. All these animals are rescues and the owner was very nice and informative.

This place was awesome!! The cages were very well maintained and the animals seemed very happy! We spent about an hour there-don’t forget to bring quarters inside for feeding the goats in the petting zoo!!

This is a cute little roadside rescue zoo with a reptile room, outdoor animal exhibit and petting zoo. It’s a bit pricey for how small it is, but other than that we liked it.

This is the sixth or seventh time we have visited. It is a very small operation and you can visit it in a couple of hours. There are a lot of snakes, some reptiles and birds. There are not as many mammals, but that might...More
