Great place for an outing especially if the weather is good. Interesting historical landmark with a video, displays of craftsman (certain days) and beautiful landscape if you just want a nice picnic spot. FREE!!

Being the first of it's kind in the "New World". Saugus Iron Works produced cast and wrought iron for Massachusetts and England. Being a dangerous profession, it took great skill to operate the iron works. Step back in time to see how this was done....More

The park area has a few restored iron-works buildings with many authentic metal working tools used for forging at the iron-works, all there for you to look at, touch and pick up. Large waterwheels and furnaces were restored so you can have an authentic sense...More

Fascinating but without a tour, can't really get much out of it, though it's beautiful. Got there earlier and staff was pleasant and kindly let me in early. Wish there were more informative signs while walking around.

We were especially impressed with the friendliness of the staff, and the wonderful demonstration of creating a "nail". The grounds are very peaceful, and the displays are both highly interesting and informative. Not to miss!
