This is one of the smaller attractions we visited and were not disappointed. It consists of 10 rooms, a terrace, and a garden. The layout is interesting. The facility grew from a one-room home in 1722 to the 10 rooms over the course of 200+ years, being added as needed during that time. It is one of the earliest buildings in the region still standing today. There are artifacts, paintings, and restoration notes spread around the different rooms, depicting life as it was in those days.

We visited the Spanish Governor’s Palace to enjoy some of the history of San Antonio. The house and terrace are well presented representations of the original residence. The tour is self guided and descriptive placards in each room give detailed descriptions.

Maximum price is only $5 per person, with discounts for seniors, military and children.

Stopped in on a Friday morning and the place wasn’t busy. The placards do a good job of sharing the history of the site. Parking is very limited.

Very well preserved home. Interesting with lots of history. Educational as far as Texan/Mexican and Spanish history is concerned in that area.

This is a re imagined version of the Spanish governors residence by an architect in the 1930s. The furnishings are from the period and the courtyard is pleasant. Hard to believe that in 2023 there is a statue of a conquistador outside the door.

Not very impressive. Lots of mess around the side and the back of the facility. $5 per person to visit. You can get into the Alamo for free! Not a very good value.

We fought the downtown construction on our way to visit this site. We toured it on our own and while somewhat interesting, it wasn't that interesting to us.

By all means do the MExican market, then walk a block or two and visit the Governor's Palace. The history here sets the stage for the development of the city of San Antonio. I learned that 15 families from the Canary Islands were sent by the King to settle this area. This was the sight of the original Presidio (or fort) for the settlers. The home was started in the early 1700s, added onto gradually throughout the 1800s. We are fortunate the city stepped in and purchased it in the early 1900s and has restored the property. I think it was $3 for Seniors to visit. Takes maybe an hour. Then walk another block to the cathedral and you will have a nice day in San Antonio!

We saw this on the way back from the Mexican Market square. This is small and can be covered in half an hour. Worth seeing, but not a knockout either.
