    Tired of the wait
First I bought combo tickets from Rio boat rides so I wouldn't have to stand in line at the Tower. You do have to stand in line and trade tickets for wrist bands. I waited almost 30 minutes while people bought tickets trying to decide if they wanted combo tickets or not. Then when we got inside we waited over 30 minutes to get in elevator because they had a school tour come in right before us.. the view from Tower was great. Didn't go to the restaurant

    Fun but could be better
While I would say the Tower of the Americas is a must do while in San Antonio, it is probably a good idea to adjust your expectations accordingly if you have been in other large towers in other bigger cities. This tower may not be as tall, or rotate or have mind blowing views, but this was priced appropriately, fun and offered some good views of the surrounding area. I wish there wasn’t a convention blocking off most of the observation area when we were there and it was also a bummer the gift shop closed before the tower did. I was also very surprised and disappointed there was no metal detector or security check before taking the elevator. Overall it was a fun visit - but a one and done.

    EH. Okay once, wouldn't return.
Of course, tourists need to visit this observation tower although there are cons to doing so. The Tower is in Hemisfair Park (built for the World's Fair held in San Antonio in 1968). At the top is a 360 degree view of San Antonio with helpful graphics showing what viewers are seeing (building names, etc). For the brave, there is an outside observatory around the perimeter. The Chart House restaurant at the top has limited hours and seating, so reserve in advance to eat there. We didn't dine there so can't speak to the quality of the food. The cons of visiting the tower: 1) Buying tickets in advance from places like GoRio, doesn't shorten your admission time. You still have to stand in line to exchange the tickets for the wrist band needed for entry. It'd be helpful if the Tower had a window open for people who already purchased tickets on-line or through third party vendors. 2) The 4D theater needs scrapped and rebuilt. We went expecting a short film about Texas, but it was just a random excerpt from the Wonder Woman 1984 movie (why??). Also, the moving chairs were using very old tech that'll was super rough and could easily throw your back out or make your gestating baby come early. And, the chair movements didn't really mirror what was going on in the movie. It was just a weird experience. As an aside, the Tower needs a countdown clock in the film waiting area to show visitors how long they have to wait for the next showing. 3) The elevators to the top and back were a bit "jerky" and made me fear that it's time for an inspection. There was a gift shop on the first floor selling trinkets and candy. Oddly, there were some free standing video game machines too. The ticket price includes a souvenir photo taken against observation tower backdrops.

    A great stop
This is a great place to visit. For $15 you get an elevator ride to the top and a 4-D experience. They offer a package that includes a boat ride on the river, the top and the 4-D for $31. We did the just the two, but wish we did all three. We ended up doing a boat tour later. We went right at sunset. There was no line or crowd at all, which was very surprising. We stayed at the top until it was dark, and we could see the city lights. The 4-D experience was just okay. We watched the Flight over Texas.

    Birthday Dinner was a hit!!!!
We had dinner her for my wifes birthday and everything was just great, the filet mignon was cooked just right and the shrimp cocktail was more than tasty, only one thing, instead of 5....give 6 to even it out for a couple. the salad was very good, only thing was the croutons were stale. Everything else was great and nice touch with the wishing my wife a happy birthday on the menu itself, we kept them and she was tickled you all took that much time to do that...it's the little things that go far.

    Great view of San Antonio!
Should have looked into this place more. We could have reserved a spot for dinner to really take in all the tower had to offer. Pricey to pay $20 for parking and then another amount to go to the 4th floor to enjoy the sites. Beautiful waterfalls and art to enjoy

    Tower overlooking town
If you have a fear of heights, this is NOT the place for you to visit! This was one of 4 stops on a 1/2 day San Antonio tour. I understand the part it played in the Hemisfair and why it was part of the tour, although it was not my favorite stop. The view from the interior observation deck was food for me.

    Best view in San Antonio
Beautiful views, top notch service, delicious food, and tallest tower in Texas! 750’ high. We enjoyed macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, filet mignon, hummus sampler platter, and some fabulous drinks. And the restaurant spins for a 360° view of San Antonio.

    Not Worth the Wait
Visiting the top of the tower was fun, yet the view was not as good as some other cities with similar attractions. We probably spent twice as much time in line for tickets/wristbands and the elevator that we did on the deck. Because we decided to arrive after dark, it would be a 40 minute wait for the show so we opted to skip that. I would suggest considering dining at the restaurant to avoid the lines .

    Beautiful views of San Antonio
Very tall tower near downtown San Antonio. Built for the 1968 worlds Fair. Taller than the Space Needle in Seattle Less busy than the Space Needle but it may be the time of the year. Beautiful views of the city. Looks down on the Alamo Dome. There is a revolving restaurant on top. Very nice to visit

I found it worth doing, unique view of the city. We went to the bar. Had cocktails and an app. Great time, easy to do. Awesome food in the bar, same menu as the restaurant

Yes, nice views. 4D ride was only 2D. Have to pay $10 to park. Not worth it in my opinion. If you have done an observation deck any where else, I’d skip this one. Plus when we got up, more than half of the observation deck was closed for a private function.

Only about 1/4 of the observation deck open. Rest closed for “private events” with walls and drapes that looked semi-permanent. The photo/history display looked interesting but of course only 1/4 of it was accessible. 3D Texas movie only 2D, but more to the point is interspersed with other films so would have to wait an hour and a half to see it. Don’t waste your money on this ripoff.

I decided to go to the Tower of America with a couple friends for a birthday dinner but on the way up to the tower, we bumped into a chef named Tony. He was nice as first but then started to be very flirtatious with me and my friends, we asked him politely to stop but he kept asking to "chill" with us after his shift. Mind you we are 18 and 19 years old. We were very uncomfortable with the situation and just decided to go to a different restaurant.

The admission was $16.50 and was well worth it. I spent an hour on the observation deck, lots to see and gaze upon. I also saw a storm approaching, which was pretty cool to see at 560 feet off the ground. Some interesting facts, the tower height to the top of the antenna is 750 feet and it takes 43 seconds for the elevators to climb to the top. Best tower in Texas!

Yes, amazing views unless you are in a wheelchair. The glass either inside or out doesn’t start until about 42” off the floor so if you’re in a wheelchair, forget it. Then, we tried to find someone to work the wherlchair lift so she could go outside and there was absolutely no one working up on the observation level. I waited for an elevator operator who thought if I just “pulled hard” I could open the gate and work it. No, it required a key. I tried calling a couple different numbers but just got voicemail. Should have asked for our money back but just left. They do have nice photos around inside so you can know what you’re looking at. Would be nice if they would put up compass directions so you could tell which direction you’re facing. Of all the things we have done in San Antonio was the least impressed with this and thought it was worth maybe half what we paid

Had lunch at the Charter House restaurant that is located in The Tower of Americas. The view was great, but it was hot when you’re in the line of the sun. Service was pretty good. I felt like we were being pressured to purchase a particular bottle of wine. Tried the wine and it was not very good. Bought a different bottle that we were familiar with. The food was just ok maybe a 4 out of 10. I ordered the chopped salad and a crab cake . The salad was not edible. Lilted iceberg lettuce and what little mixed greens that were added were slimy and gross. A good salad should be crisp. Also, the bread crumbs were old and stale. Asked the server to take it away but we were still charged for it. Very disappointing on the servers part. The crab cake had potential. Beautiful presentation just not enough flavor. My husband had the lobster bisque and fish & chips. The bisque was great but the lobster was a bit overcooked and it was served with no bread or crackers. Who does that? Dipped bisque on a good piece of bread is the bomb. Another missed opportunity. The fish & chips were just ok. Again, lot of potential just no real flavor. Loved the tarter sauce! That’s sad when you think about it. The tarter sauce was and bisque was the best part of the meal. The food total was around $70.00 for a lunch that was just ok. Could have gone to Mickey D’s for less.
