One of the town's grandest buildings, looking out to sea and across the rest of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. Check opening hours.

Situated on the Salem waterfront this is a lovely period building staffed by some very knowledgeable guides from the National Park Service. A really interesting tour and great sense of atmosphere.

The Custom House tour of the lower level was free when we were. here. Author Hawthorne had worked here for a few years. Loved the history and the building.
