This historic site is a very important part of Salem's history, as Salem was a port used significantly by merchants.

My kids loved doing the Junior Ranger program and we learned so much during the process. The volunteer at the Customs House was very knowledgeable and patient with the kids and their questions...mine too!

I just visited the Draken Harald Harfagre here August 7, 2018. Amazing! After a tour of the longship the rest of the exhibit was set up on the wharf. Wonderful highly recommended!

This is a classical piece of Maritime-related history and so as you might expect it's located on the seafront. You should normally come across this site if you're doing the visitor centre inspired/sponsored walking tour of Salem. it does have that bit more class than...More

This was on my list of visiting sites across the country. It was pretty cool and had many different information pieces to read as you walked along the path.

We were by the waterfront first so couldn't locate the visitor center to determine what we were looking at on the piers. There were no boats there the day we were there. We visited the Custom House which is beautiful and has a few exhibits....More

There is more to this site than meets the eye. The park brochure doesn't do this park justice (there's quite a bit more to see). While the ship Friendship was in dry dock and we were unable to see it, there was still quite a...More

Small space, free, tells about the harbour, inside and out side. Shame the tall ship friendship not there, no idea when it will be back. Call in on your way from the ferry to the town.

There were dogs all around, but there are many different individual different place to see, and I am not 100% certain that 100% of the places are friendly to dogs. Give them a buzz, you will get a straight answer.

The tour took about 1.5 hours. There was no fee, just needed to make a reservation at the NPS Visitor Center near the Peabody Essex Museum (next to the tall parking structure).
