Maybe my timing was wrong, because I was slightly disappointed in the exhibit. The main room showed basically paintings of the Sonora Desert. The smaller rooms had only a few pieces of art in each. Being a globetrotter maybe I expected too much from a...More

MOCA Tucson is a small museum that you should visit if you like contemporary art. It's in an interesting venue: Tucson's former downtown fire station. The main gallery has big glass doors that fire engines passed through. Smaller rooms nearby are galleries that usually house...More

Went to the viewing of Basquiat. The viewing was outdoors, the museum had great seating, even some bean bags. There was a food vendor there (POPPED Artisan Popcorn...so good) and you could bring your own snacks/picnic. Very good vibe and great community event! Look forward...More

I'm impressed at the level of community engagement inherent in all that MOCA Tucson does. As a longtime resident, their outreach to local youth organizations, Arts for All, and other local nonprofits is important to me. I was delighted to find that one of the...More

Outstanding Displays of Local and World Artists. Great place to spend an afternoon. Their plenty of small shops located around the museum, in which one can browse. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Tucson.

If you expect an art museum to be a place where paintings and sculptures are collected and shown to the public, then you will not find this here. Rather, this museum fits a secondary definition: a place where objects are exhibited. It holds special exhibitions...More
