A clear day on 199 is fantastic. Cold and cloudy and it is still a wonderful scenic pleasure. Lots of large trees, some right on top of the road, not as intimidating as the drive on 299, but still if you like big trees you...More

Six Rivers NF (also called Six Rivers Nat'l Recreation Area) is the area that is east of Crescent City and the tiny town of Hiouchi. There are a few redwoods here and there, but as you head east (inland) the redwoods disappear and the forest...More

If you enjoy hiking and trees, this is the place. I would go here with some good shoes and make sure that you bring food and water. The hikes can be a little longer (if you want them to be)

We drove through SRNF and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery. This is amazing country. We were a little frustrated with the continuous construction and road closures.

A drive to that is great, driving right next to big redwood trees. Just remember that the road is slow, but then you see the great trees, up close.

We very much enjoyed this national forest. It has many huge trees and several roads to wander. We spent one afternoon just meandering abound and relaxing. Highly recommend.

Water shortage, not here. Pollution no way. Swimming, fishing, sun bath, kayak we have it all with dimly sunshine in summer and cool rain and thunder in the winter. Love this area.

The 299 is one of the finest byways that i have ever ridden. The scenery is spectacular. I enjoyed the view of Mount Lassen.

We only wanted to spend a little time driving through the area but we couldn't stop! We always wanted to see what was right around the corner. Wonderful drive.
