We drove down several roads looking for this place. Started at Earl Lake, but did not want to hike that far through tall grass. Figured out a way to drive around the lake to the dunes, but poorly marked. Really pretty coast line and great...More

This was a hard place to find and disappointing when we did find it. Veryn poor signage...from the highway and throughout the reserve. We did have the blessing of seeing a pair of Western Tanagers. Nothing more that that

We thought we could either walk around Earl Lake or hike to the ocean. Seems like we walked for a great distance and saw neither. Lots of trees and tall grasses. Also mosquitos. We were not prepared.

We came here for the miles of ocean, and to watch the sunset at Kellogg Beach, but there are plenty of other reasons to visit. It's a 20 minute drive from Crescent City and adds a nice counterpoint to the Redwood Parks to the south....More

If you are lucky, you will see a herd of ELK there. They even go in the salt water. There is a belief the salt water keeps the mosquitos away. A horseback ride is the best way to try and catch a glimpse of this...More

This was a great day out with the kids. The trails were very well maintained for the most part. We took a lovely walk through the woods and ended up out on the beach.

Visited Cadra Point that is in the Lake Earl Wildlife area of Tolowa Dunes. The trails are lovely, flat, easy to walk and uncrowded, going through forest , grasslands and wetlands to the dunes at the end of Cadra Pt. Only problem was the mosquitoes...More
