We were on motorcycles and the road was very bumpy in places. Not a lot of room, one lane road with pullouts, made even more difficult by cars squeezed off to the sides as people were hiking. I cant imagine trying to take this road...More

Very scenic drive through the redwoods. It's a gravel road which was smooth when we drove through and was acceptable for passenger cars. Great close up view of the trees.

This is a pleasant drive with a vehicle. The giant redwoods were spectacular. You really need to experience these trees first hand to appreciate their size. There were also lots of trails to walk. These roads are not recommended for RVs.

We took this road to get to the Stout Grove. Narrow in parts - just enough for one car between trees. Better than the "drive through a tree!" You feel like you're part of the forest on this road. No traffic (mid-May).

We drove with no problem in our Jeep Wrangler but it was rough. Beautiful scenery and we hiked the Boy Scout trail to Fern Falls - wonderful day!

Although the road was bumpy with big potholes filled with rain water, it was worth the drive. Very courteous drivers both ways. The trees are spectacular! Local told us about Mills Creek Trail ( not on map ). Coming from Crescent City towards Stout Grove:...More

Love the drive - the road has some huge potholes due to the spring rains, also in spots the road is completely covered with water. Due to the dense foliage it is almost dark in spots and hard to see the upcoming potholes even if...More

If you plan to take this route know that it is narrow and bumpy and full of potholes. I understand they only grade the road once a year so I'm sure it's better right after that. It is narrow and two ways and although we...More

Drive slow and watch for potholes! St op and walk the mile long trail at stout grove. Easy walking. Do it!

We stayed at Scopa by the Sea- in Crescent City. Purpose-built, cute, nautical-themed B&B with an awesome host and incredible breakfast!

There are many paying camp grounds in the area, including several near the harbor. Before we moved to the area we always preferred to use the campground in Jed Smith Park. Depending on when you will come you may need to... More
