Salt lake has a lot of beautiful territory around it in its canyons. Mill creek is in many ways the most peaceful; there is no resort at the top that attracts traffic. It's hikeable. It has picnic areas and a cold stream. Mill Creek is...More

Dogs are only aloud on upper canyon on Odd Days. This is how I remember: Odd has a "D" in it, same as Dog. Even has four leters, same as Bike. Odd days=Dog Days Even days=Bike days

This canyon is just spectacular. It's such a short drive from downtown. It is filled with picnic spots, hiking areas, biking areas etc. There is a beautiful river flowing through it that creates one of the most picturesque places in SLC. In the spring, summer...More

First of all, the weather has been weird as we didn't get so much snow since last December. I have been in Utah almost for three years, and this time is the abruptest snow we had. All of sudden we got snow last weekend. Yay!...More

Summer time, this is perhaps the best place in SLC canyons for picnicking. Short or long hikes possible. Dogs are OK whereas they are Not allowed in Big/Little Cottonwood Canyons due to watershed. Have to pay entrance fees. Fall drive for color is good most...More

A quick drive all the way east on 3900 South will reward you with one of the quiet gems of Salt Lake City. It's a narrow canyon, lush in the summer, great for CC skiing in winter, and a sure choice any other time of...More

Beautiful canyon less than a 10 minute drive from downtown on the freeway if you avoid rush hours. At least a hundred picnic spots, probably more like 2 or 3 hundred in multiple areas. Great for families. There is no camping in this canyon unless...More

We absolutely love driving up Mill Creek Canyon in the fall to see all the beautiful fall colors. There are many areas to have a picnic as well as hiking trails along the way. Great way to spend a day.

Such diversity in hiking trails. I broke my leg there & I still can't stay away. My favorite hike is to Dog lake. One of the few canyons in Salt lake to take your dogs because it is not a water shed.
