We visited the Temple Square and attended an organ recital.....all I can say is WOW! There are only 6 people in the world who can play the nearly 12,000 pipe organ and our performance was spectacular! If you only do one thing in SLC, this would be it!
During our walking about the grounds, we saw many missionaries who were there to answer questions. They were all very nice and we enjoyed talking with them.

We attended an efficient and moving production of Music and the Spoken Word in July. Our first visit to the Center. The event worked well. The Center needs better signage to guide visitors from the car park elevators to the auditorium. Several groups spent a few minutes wandering around the Center trying to enter the auditorium. Once inside, there are volunteers to help.

Unfortunately many of the buildings in Temple Square are under renovation to increase their earthquake resistance. The Conference Center was open and they have a rooftop observation deck. You can get a lovely view of Temple Square and beyond from the observation deck. I also was able to watch a short video presentation in an alcove off the lobby.
The Conference Hall seats 21,000. While the organ at the Tabernacle is being repaired, the daily organ recital takes place in the Conference Hall. The organist played a variety of pieces that showed off the range of the organ. It was beautiful to listen to.

I had no idea what this building was all about so we stumbled across it and I’m so glad we did. We were wanting to just go to the roof and had no idea the interior would be as interesting as it was. The auditorium is a sight to behold. The art work scattered throughout the building is beautiful. There is a model of the temple so you can see the layout which was also very interesting. Sisters are available throughout the building to patiently answer all your questions. So glad we stopped in.

The security is this place needs to brush up on their professionalism. Had a brush up with two security guys in this building that I talked too much to two missionary girls. One was from Philippines, and I asked if she could say hello to my Philippine girlfriend living in the Philippines all her life and they video chatted. I assume the church does not like for the missionaries to strictly talk LDS recruitment. So why doe's the USA have to put up with Missionaries from the LDS church invading our private homes? Be careful in the setting, this is not religious.

We received a very thorough tour which lasted more than 2 hours. The auditorium is just amazing, seating for 20.000+ persons! The paintings throughout the building were beatiful as well as the stories behind those. The roof terrace and gardens are unbelievable. The conference center is a must see while in SLC, just a stunning place!

Incredible building. Take a free tour offered. We saw the conference center auditorium which holds 21,000 people with its own organ. We were lucky to get to the roof for a view over temple square and the construction of the temple. Definitely worth a visit.

Someone posted "Be sure to have lunch at the LDS resaurant one block away". Can anyone tell me the name of that restaurant please?

The Lion House. There are also 2 restaurants in the Joseph Smith Building - 15 E South Temple - One on top that is nicer and pricier, but has great views of temple square - and a deli on the first floor. The Lion House is located at 63 East South Temple, opens at 9 am.

How late is the Conference Center Parking garage open?
Written September 26, 2015
I did not use the parking garage. I can recommend using the rail system to get around. I used to and from the airport in Salt Lake City. Clear and concise markings for where one would want to get on and off the train.

Kate, I assume you are talking about a hotel you did not like??? Not the Conference Center?
Written August 22, 2015
We enjoy both Temple Square and the conference center. If you get to the conference center early (around 8:15 or 8:30 am, I think) on Sunday morning, you can sit through the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word." Even those who aren't LDS can appreciate the beautiful music and talent of the artists. We went last Sunday for the first time ever and thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat through the run-through, rehearsal, and then the live broadcast. Very much worth the time.
Temple Square isn't "boring," in my opinion, as there is a lot of history there and a lot of displays and things to see. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. We always enjoy stopping there.
