This park is something to be proud of - we were particularly lucky to visit on a glorious sunny day, but I am sure Anchor Bay would shine in any weather. Followed the fisherman track for a while but a boardwalk under construction caused us...More

This is a magnificent beach and park area with walks to suit most people. The scenery is stunning and it is worth doing in both summer and winter. We recently went in winter and remembered just how beautiful it is even when it's not hot...More

Three years ago we moved to the Tawharanui Peninsula and live about 2 km from the regional park. We visit there often, going for walks and swimming in summer. The Ecology Trail is a good starter walk (1.5 hours) and there are many longer ones....More

The Tawharanui Open Sanctuary has it all. We enjoyed an amazing hike through the area. We started walking along the coast, then uphill through pastures with spectacular views and then to and through the incredibly lush rainforest with amazing bird life (and plant life!) and...More

Love Tawharanui. The Beach is stunning, the regional park is super peaceful. Perfect place for a romantic picnic or the day out with the kids. Good boogie boarding and snorkeling!

Beautiful beach and amazing walks. A good range to choose from, with varying degrees of difficulty and different lengths. At low tide a lovely walk to and from Omaha Beach too (easily accessible two hours either side of low tide).

This place was absolutely stunning. We did the short walk EcoWalk and it gave us plenty of variety - bush, ferns, creek, old stand trees as well as beach, Other walks looked good but we have limited time

Great park for fishing, beach and camping. There's loads of animals and birds wandering around the place too. Book early as on weekends and holidays this place gets booked out.

Tawharanui Regional Park is absolutely wonderful; nature at its best. The beach offers everything: safe bathing, surfing and long walks. The other walks take you along cliff tops and through native bush. There are myriad bays and coves for snorkelers. The best way to visit...More
