A great quiet family beach, beautiful and and water, with warm coral pools to explore, but thundering surf makes the water treacherous for more than wading waist deep.

Shacks is one of my favorite spots in Puerto Rico! We have been to many of the beaches in Northwest PR and Shacks is awesome. The Blue Hole offers a beautiful place in which to snorkel and swim. The long coastline makes for lovely walks...More

Swim out about 50 yards and the snorkeling becomes very good especially in the blue hole. The currents can be strong and the topography is rocky If you''re a weak swimmer or need a a helmet crossing the street, Go to Montones or Crashboat Beach.

Went to this beach with my three children as I was going horseback riding at Tropical Trail Rides nearby, pretty beach, but not very swimmable.

The west side of the island is COMPLETELY different and HIGHLY recommended. PLEASE get out of San Juan and come see this great beach in Isabla. The locals are very friendly and outgoing. Its quieter, peaceful, and there is wildlife here you can't see anywhere...More

I am a little confused by the other reviews. This place is literally between where we stayed 'Fusion ocean front' and Jobos beach. We walked by here several times a day. It's not in anyone's back yard. There are several access points to the road....More

Wow! What a great find due to TripAdvisor! Bit of a walk to get there but my goodness what a surprise. First of all the beach is very beautiful. You can walk in either direction. There is a barrier in the ocean that breaks the...More

It is quite literally the backyard of some ocean front properties. This gives it a somewhat uncomfortable access, especially if you are carrying large items like coolers or beach chairs. Parking to get to it could be hard to find and the road is somewhat...More

We didn't have our snorkeling gear and so can't comment on that, but saw several snorkelers in the water. The drift was a little bit strong the day we were there in December. But beautiful location, quiet, and tucked away from the crowds.

One of my favorite beaches in PR. Great for kitesurfing/windsurfing and when the wind is down, it's great for surfing too. When the waves are flat you can swim and snorkel. Very laid-back, peaceful, tropical vibe with friendly people.
