Very nice museum on the site of the old hospital. You will learn so much about how the civil war shaped our hospitals and medical field today. It is amazing to see the number of patients that came through the doors and lived for that...More

I spent right at an hour here. There is just enough to take in about the medical practices of the 1860s. The NPS agent, Sarah, was very helpful in directing me to other worthy sites and helping me figure out which ones I could walk...More

Located very close to the St. John Episcopal Church, its worth to stop by if you are in the area. The mansion itself is not the hospital, but located on one of the location of the different buildings that comprised the hospital grounds.

This is a historic hospital of the civil war. Historic artifacts of surgeons. The theater has a must see film of the tragic of the dealth around the civil war. So many men killed for no reason, surgeons tried to keep alive. It has a...More

This place gives you a very good insight into the challenges facing the Confederate Medical Department during the late unpleasantness. Much more than just caring for the wounded, the logistic and transportation issues were impressive indeed. A bit esoteric, but a must for anyone with...More

Never before had I given any thought to all of the wounded during the civil war. This was a major hospital, ministering to thousands. None of the original buildings are left, but there is a visitor center which contains a movie and a large model...More

This is a most interesting story. All the original building are gone but the visitor center is built on the land where they stood. Parking was plentiful. We watched the 20 minute video, talked to the Ranger who was very informative and friendly and looked...More

This is a small national park museum with displays and a miniature diorama showing the whole hospital grounds circa civil war. Later, you can walk around and see the views. Bill Handley provides excellent historic narration and tells a good joke or two. Free parking.
