The BEST selection of lamb, seal, reindeer, leather, fish leather (those are also really cool!) etc in all of Iceland! Athor was so pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about their products, which were so reasonable I was able to buy two furs for about the price of one on Reykjavík. GO THERE, you will not be disappointed!! Debra & Reba Houston, Texas

With everything else to see in Iceland, this was the one place I was really looking forward to visit - and I wasn't disappointed. We were able to have a tour that was given by Afore (pronounced Athore and I hope I spelled this correctly) and the cost was about ISK 500 each - very reasonable for a guided tour. Understanding the Tannery process was very interesting and informative. We also saw many of the workers - all of whom had a smile on their face and appeared to enjoy their jobs. Also the best "souvenir" I had from my trip - again at reasonable prices.

The prices are sky high, but the fish leather and the products made from it are unique. They also have beautiful and soft sheepskins.

This was one of our favorite stops while on 20-day self-driving trip around Iceland. Got a personal tour through the factory--who knew fish skins can be tanned? It was fascinating to see workers handling all the skins and learn about the process. There's a shop where I bought fish skin earrings and a little wallet. Wish I had bought more! Check out the artwork featuring skins and fur--beautiful!

Really interesting place to visit. If you like handcraft or even do some on your own you have to visit this place.
