We saw the Lincoln in the Movies exhibit which was small in scale but interesting. The video presentation gave more information behind the scenes.

I'd highly recommend a quick stop at the Great Western Depot, as this is the location Lincoln delivered his farewell speech when he left for Washington DC. It was also the last time he gave a speech in Springfield as he never again returned to...More

This Depot is now privately owned, beautifully restored, and well maintained. The owners have done a great job and the lower level is worth seeing. There are several displays worth your time but only plan on 1/2 hour.

This is the depot from which Lincoln departed for the White House. There is a short film and a few exhibits.

Not much to see. The caboose is not there to see. Skip this if time is short or if you are too tired to walk to it. Disappointing.

When I went there it was very interesting and it showed artifacts and a lot of train history and it's a good place to go.

Mostly a law office now, this building on the main track was where Lincoln left home for Washington and where he gave his farewell to Springfield address. There are some exhibits on the first floor and if you are a rail buff, it's worth seeing...More

The depot is now primarily commercial office space for a law office, except for the first floor which looks like a typical 19th century train station with a ticket cage in the center, a gentlemen's waiting room on the east and a ladies' on the...More

Get a quick looknat where Lincoln said goodbye to the people of Springfield as he left for the White House. It is near other Lincoln attractions and you can easily drive by or park and visit. Free of charge.
