We booked a custom 3 hours tour from the Four Seasons in Lanai. We really enjoyed the itinerary they had planned for us (going from islands to islands) and the pilot was providing a lot of background information, history etc.

This was a pretty exciting trip for us - neither my husband or myself have been in a helicopter or taken an "air" tour so were pretty pumped and did not know what to expect. We did the doors off adventure over the lava fields...More
I took this tour in mid-December of 2018. This flight started at 11 and ending at about 1pm in the afternoon. A 2 hour flight.

The Volcano Eco Landing tour was amazing!! The tour guide was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The tour gave a great sampling of the island and really inspired me to want to visit again and explore the island in more depth by car. This was my...More
We booked online through a broker company for one day that was sold out and ended up on another day with Paradise Helicopters. Best to book directly since availability on broker sites are actually based on availability of the company.

We don't take this lightly. Getting into a helicopter with your family of five is not done lightly. Paradise had a great rating and didn't disappoint.

The seats were assigned based on the weights of the other passengers on the day so there's no way to 100% guarantee the window without paying for the upgrade. I'd be surprised if swapping is an option (there wasn't much consultation on the day - we were told where to sit as we were boarding and there wasn't much time for discussion) but might be worth checking with the company directly - they were super responsive on email and very helpful.
I did buy the guarantee and ended up on almost empty tour - everyone had a window seat anyway. I suspect I would pay for it again but I'm a solo traveller with no option to swap. good luck!

I upgraded to the co-pilot's seat, and it was worth every penny. They do seat people according to weight, in order to balance the the helicopter, and I was not going to be guaranteed a great seat if I was one of the lighter weight passengers (turns out, I was one of the lighter weight ones). When I called to confirm and to find out about seating, and to request a window, I learned the co-pilot seat was still available. I snagged it!
