If you are looking for a great beach right in downtown Kona, this is the one. Was so easy to get to and the water is warm and the sand is warm and cozy.

White Sands Beach, located about 2.5 miles from Kailua Town, is a great beach for all ages. Soft sand for the little ones to build sand castles, fun waves for the older kids/adults to jump or ride on their boogey boards. Life guards are on...More

Close to where we rented a home. Waves were huge some days and others small enough that small children did not get swept away. Lots of boogey boards so big chance of getting creamed. Showers, bathrooms and lifeguard.

This is one of my favourite beaches on the Big Island. If you have some time, be sure to enjoy this one.

Great beach. One of the few around that isn't really rocky. Parking also across the street if the main lot is full.

this place was so nice. It is out of the way. Go early in the morning for this beach only allows a few cars in at a time when the spaces are full no one is allowed in. There are about 25 parking spaces. Snorkeling...More

Also called Magic Sands because the beautiful white sand disappears at some times when there is high surf and big waves. Parking is just along the road.

The high surf warnings seem to die down from the winter season. Better on the Kona side than on the Hilo side.
